ENGLAND EMBARASSED BY PAKISTAN

February 10, 2012 isport 0

The England cricket team lost to Pakistan in the 2nd Test of the series in embarrassing fashion in Abu Dhabi.

After setting up the game also most perfectly, with a solid first innings lead established and bowling the opposition out fairly cheaply in their 2nd innings, being set a target of 142 on a decidedly slow pitch should have been fairly routine for the team which is ranked as being the best on the planet.

However, sadly, the frailties of England teams that we thought were consigned to history sadly returned, as they folded like a pack of cards against Pakistan’s spinners.

SEHWAG HITS THE HEIGHTS

February 7, 2012 isport 0

In India’s One Day International against the West Indies, at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore, Virender Sehwag went on to score the highest every score in the format, with a blistering 219 off just 149.

It was an innings of sensational ball striking, as shown by the fact he scored 142 of his runs purely from boundaries. The only man to have scored a double century in the One Day International format before Sehwag was one Sachin Tendulkar, so he is in royal company.

TENDULKAR JUST WANTS A WIN

Although almost all cricket lovers are waiting eagerly for the moment, legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar is not thinking about his 100th ton.

The Master Blaster, on the other hand, would rather enjoy his time playing the game than burden himself with the milestone or talk about the hype that this landmark has been gathering over the last few months.

Warne makes a losing return to cricket

December 19, 2011 isport 0

Shane Warne’s return to cricket ended in defeat after his Melbourne Stars team crashed to a six-wicket defeat against Sydney Thunder.

The leg-spinner, who retired earlier this year, made a negligible contribution to his side’s efforts conceding 19 runs in two overs without taking a wicket, while his services with the bat were not required.

AUSTRALIA FIRM ON FIXING

November 2, 2011 isport 0

Australian Cricket’s Chief Executive could be forgiven for thinking that the battle had been won against the match-fixers when the Pakistan captain and his teammates were sentenced and charged with fixing certain elements of the game, but CEO James Sutherland has insisted that the battle has only just begun.

October 7, 2011 isport 0

There was a time (not so long ago!) when the only bet you could place on cricket was on whether England would win, lose or draw. And you had to go into a shady bookmakers to place it!

Thankfully times have changed, and the internet has made it super-easy to place bets from the comfort of your own home.

Whilst you can still bet on the outcomes of matches (which gives you an extra reason to sit down and watch all 5 days of the test match!), there are now all sorts of other markets you can bet on – especially with the advent of live in-play betting.
